- How are the road conditions for driving to Tahoe? Whether
coming from the direction of Sacramento or Reno, you can check the
Caltrans web page
on the status of the major highways (Hwy 80, Hwy 50, Hwy 89, Hwy 267, Hwy 431)
into Lake Tahoe. You can get similar information by dialing (800) 427-7623.
- How do I get to the race? Here are the directions to the
start and finish
of The Great Ski RaceTM.
- Will parking be available? Parking at both the start and
finish is limited; please carpool if possible. Parking at the start will be
strictly enforced; you will be towed if you park outside the designated areas. Please
refer to
this map: designated parking will be available on the North side of Polaris and
Cedarwood; on the East side of Village; on the West side of Country Club; and on the
South side of Highland. Parking will also be available at the High School at the
end of Polaris; a groomed track will be available to skate to the start at the Nordic Center,
a distance of less than .5 miles. Please do not park in any undesignated areas.
- What about a shuttle bus between the start and finish?
Buses will run from Truckee (Hilltop Lodge) to the
Tahoe Cross Country ski area on race morning, leaving Truckee at 7:00 AM.

Country ski area will run from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM - seating is limited! Parking
for the 7:00 am buses from Truckee is in the Regional Park on the North side of Hwy
267, across from Cottonwoods. The price for a bus ride is $3, which you include
when registering.
- What about a shuttle for a skiers personal gear? There
will be a drop off at the race start for personal gear (clothes, etc) that will
be ready for pickup at the finish line.
