The Great Ski Race^TM

Directions and maps (with links) to the race start are below, either coming from Reno/North Shore Lake Tahoe, or from the Sacramento area. Folks coming from Reno that wish to take Highway 80 instead of the Mt Rose Highway should get to Truckee (take the Hwy 89 South exit and turn left towards Tahoe City) and then follow the Sacramento instructions from #3.

Note that buses will run from Truckee (Hilltop Lodge) to the Tahoe Cross Country ski area on race morning, leaving Truckee at 7:00 AM. Seating is limited so register early. Buses from Truckee returning to the Tahoe Cross Country ski area will run from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM - again, seating is limited, first come first serve. Parking for the 7:00 am buses from Truckee is in the Regional Park on the North side of Hwy 267, across from Cottonwoods.

Parking at both the start and finish is limited; please carpool if possible. Additional parking at the start will be available at the High School in Tahoe City (take a left on Polaris Road from Village Road and drive to the end, but please don't park in the neighborhoods around the High School), and at the finish at the Regional Park in Truckee (on the North side of Hwy 267, just past Old Brockway Road).

Whether coming from the direction of Sacramento or Reno, you can check the Caltrans web page on the status of the major highways (Hwy 80, Hwy 50, Hwy 89, Hwy 267, Hwy 431) into Lake Tahoe. You can get similar information by dialing (800) 427-7623.
